Temperature is the average energy of the moving particles of a solid, a liquid, or a gas
Thermal Energy is the total energy of the moving particles of a solid, a liquid, or a gas
Heat is the thermal energy transferred from an area of higher temperature to an area of lower temperature
This is the video we watched in class. Remember that we use the term "Thermal Energy" for the total amount of energy in a substance and this video refers to it as "heat". We are using the term "heat" when we refer to the transfer of thermal energy only.
